DMEM (Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium) is a modification of Basal Medium Eagle (BME) that contains a four-fold higher concentration of amino acids and vitamins, as well as additional supplementary components. DMEM is well suited for supporting the growth of a broad spectrum of mammalian cell lines.
Roswell Park Memorial Institute (RPMI) 1640 Medium are enriched formulations with extensive applications for mammalian cells. RPMI 1640 Medium has developed to culture human leukemic cells in suspension and as a monolayer.
DMEM/F-12 (Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium/Nutrient Mixture F-12) is a 1:1 mixture of DMEM and Ham’s F-12. DMEM/F-12 is a widely used basal medium for supporting the growth of many different mammalian cells.
